Get the details and data for what’s beneath your lawn before applying fertilizer and other lawn products to ensure it will be effective.
Everyone loves a lush and healthy lawn. So our first step in achieving your goal is by implementing a soil test before any part of our lawn fertilization and weed control program is performed. Soil tests are a “must do” to determine the proper nutrient program to maximize the success for your turf grass. We also want to do our part protect the environment, and the data provided by a soil test gives us the details needed to ensure your lawn can thrive but without overdoing the volume of fertilizer to where runoff can become a problem.
The soil beneath your yard is constantly changing which causes nutrients in the soil to diminish due to plant growth, leaching and erosion. Soil testing is quick, yet effective scientific method to evaluate the nutritional status of your yard. Stresses and imbalances can reduce plant vigor, which impacts the plant’s susceptibility to damage from drought, disease, insects and other conditions.
One of the most important things that the soil test reveals is the pH level. If the pH levels are not ideal, the nutrients are locked up in the soil and not properly used by your grass, trees, shrubs or flowers. We also test for levels of phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium, nitrogen etc. Bottom line, this simple and low-cost analysis will help lead to a more vibrant lawn, brilliant flowers and dense foliage without compromising our environment in the process.
We use a test probe that dives approximately 6″ into the ground and removes a plug of grass, roots and soil. We generally pull 15-20 plugs from residential lawns. This number varies based on your property’s existing soil type, drainage and other characteristics. Landscape and flower beds can also be tested to obtain accurate data for shrub fertilizing.
